Top 5 Tips to Maintain a Healthy Mindset While Gambling in Las Vegas
Whenever we go to Las Vegas to film some of our YouTube segments, we want to make sure we stay upbeat and healthy. After all, gambling can take its toll, both physically and mentally. Having the right mindset in place is critical to be on top of your game! If you aren’t feeling just right and ignore your body’s warning signs, it can lead to a ruined trip!
With this in mind, here are our top 5 tips to keeping yourself in top condition.
Always Hydrate
Hydration while visiting desert city seems obvious, right? One would think it is, but many of us do not drink enough water on a daily basis, even when we are at home. When you pair that with being in a dry desert climate, you could be courting disaster.
The average humidity in Las Vegas, in comparison to other areas of the country, is pretty low. It runs around 30%, with summer months being even drier. If you are a sun-seeker, Las Vegas will give you a strong dose of vitamin D in no time! However, with that sun comes risks of dehydration, heat stroke, and more. Combine all this sun with free drinks during a long slot machine gambling session and you could be in for a rude awakening.
Take Snack Breaks
When you are gambling, dopamine is released on a regular basis, which can reduce appetite. Dopamine is a hormone that is released by your body when it experiences pleasurable activities. Pleasurable foods give us a dopamine hit too, but if we are getting it elsewhere, it can cause our body to essentially “forget” to eat.
Take regular breaks to get food in your body. You may not even realize you are hungry when jumping from slot machine to table games and back. And without proper nutrition, you could be in for a big mood swing. No one likes a hangry gambler!
Never Gamble Drunk
Drinking and gambling seem to go hand-in-hand for many. After all, you are out to have some fun, right? Now we aren’t saying you can’t have a few drinks. Our advice is to be careful not to overdo it.
If you are going to drink and gamble, have a “designated gambler” that keeps you out of trouble! No one likes to wake up the next morning to find themselves broke without remembering how it even happened. And gentlemen beware of those that prey upon drunk single men at casino bars! It can lead to you losing more than just money!
Take Vitamin C
Wherever you may travel, boosting your vitamin C is always smart. The benefits of vitamin C are well documented, and the boon to your immune system to help prevent illness is just plain smart. Traveling always exposes you to a new set of variables that you may not encounter when you are at home.
When you are gambling, you will encounter items that have been exposed to a multitude of other people. Slot machine buttons, gaming chips, and money all have been touched multiple times by others. Now we aren’t germaphobes, but nothing is worse than getting sick while on vacation! Stay healthy and supplement your immune system with something like Emergen-C. It helps! We always carry packets with us. And in case you are wondering, we are not paid sponsors of this product.
Get Some Sleep
Anytime you are in Las Vegas, or any other gambling destination, the excitement is high. However, this is even more reason to make sure you get a good rest! Make sure you are getting enough sleep, as good rest is key to making important decisions.
We always try to keep a consistent sleep strategy in place during our trips. Our rules are to never stay out past what we call “the witching hour”, which is about 2:00 AM. This is to be sure we are asleep by 2:30 AM at the latest. If you are younger, perhaps you can go on less sleep, but us married couples need our beauty sleep! We are also sure to get in a nap each day. That quick rest gives us a good reset for when we film.
Keep Your Mind Healthy and Have Fun!
Keeping these tips in mind will always help you make the best gambling decisions when you are visiting Las Vegas and hanging out with friends. We hope you can drop in and see us when we are in town filming!
